Retiree, Michael McInnis is inviting everyone to attend
a special and historic event honoring fallen police officers.
For the first time in the United States, a Memorial Mass
known as the Progetto Memoria is being celebrated in
San Antonio and the first Church to have this distinction is
San Francesco di Paola.
A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 18th at 5:30 p.m.,
205 Piazza Italia, San Antonio, Texas during which an
Icon of the Madonna will be presented to the Church
via an envoy from Venice, Italy.

My wife and I attended the mass. There was one other family survivor, Mrs. Cuellar, wife of Richard Cuellar killed in 1968. Two active duty officers and one retired officer also attended. The celebrant was Bishop Phieffer of San Angelo. The bishop approached us several times during the mass to shake ours hands and with a show of support and condolences.
ReplyDeleteThe information on the Memorial Mass came to me too late but I would like to thank coffeecops for placing the information on their web site. This will be a yearly mass on the Saturday following Easter. Hopefully more families and officers will attend next year.
While we were unable to attend, Ray and I were there in spirit. Next year, let's hope we fill the church with uniforms and retirees.
