Retiree, Redmond Ehlert passes on.

Redmond Ehlert passed away. He was 79 years old.
Redmond and I were radar partners back in 1970.
A finer fella you would never know anywhere.

Mission North, 3401 Cherry Ridge, 210-349-1414,
is handling the arrangements.


Visitation – Friday, 12-05, 1800 – 2100hrs,
Rosary at 1900hrs
Church Services, Sat, 12-06,
will at St Gregory Catholic Church, time not schedule yet.

Obit will probably run on Thursday newspaper.

Redmond John Ehlert went to be with the Lord on
December 2, 2008 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on
July 22, 1929 in Whitehall, Wisconsin to Frank C. Ehlert
and Helen Salwery Ehlert.

Red was a high school athlete, lettering in all sports along
with band and choir. He was also his Senior Class VP
in Wild Rose, Wisconsin.

He joined the USAF, which brought him to San Antonio.
In 1954, Red joined the San Antonio Police Department
and retired with 26 years of service. Being a member of
"Der San Antonio Liederkranz" for 30 years was a big joy
in his life.

He was an avid artist who also enjoyed playing cards,
practical jokes and cribbage. His grandchildren always
brought out the biggest smile and the loudest laugh.
He will truly be missed by everyone.

Red leaves behind his beloved wife, Minnie; daughter,
Carol Payton; sons, Carl Anthony Ehlert and
John Redmond Ehlert; brother, Willis J. Ehlert and
wife, Reva; grandchildren, Brandon A. Ehlert,
Lindsey M. Ehlert, Jacob W. Payton &
Jennifer L. Payton; along with numerous nieces
and nephews.

SERVICES Visitation will be held on Friday-
December 5, 2008 from 6:00PM until 9:00PM,
with a Rosary recited at 7:00PM at Mission Park
Funeral Chapels North. The Mass of the Resurrection
will be celebrated on Saturday-December 6, 2008 at
10:00AM at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church,
700 Dewhurst, San Antonio, TX 78213.

Entombment will follow in the Holy Cross Catholic
Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to the Parkinsons
Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509,
New York, New York 10018 or to the
One Hundred Club of San Antonio(memorials for families
of fallen officers), P.O. Box 6741, San Antonio, TX 78209.

  1. I will always remember the day I was called into the traffic office and told I would be re-assigned to radar. My partner was Redmond Ehlert. This was our first assignment together. To work with Redmond was an adventure everyday. There was never a dull moment. He made the day fly by, and was a delight to be with. I will miss seeing him, he was a man with intergerty and principals. Redmond, rest in peace old friend.
