Mando - just received a call from Jerry Jaramillo that retired Police Officer Walter Scharf passed away last night at home. Do not have any other information. Please notify the men about his passing. Thanks - abel juarez

Walter H. Scharf, age 73, passed away January 24, 2008. He was born April 30, 1934, in San Antonio, to the late Albert and Frieda Scharf. A proud member of the San Antonio Police Department for 33 years, Walter not only protected the community, but he also provided information regarding accident prevention and school safety. He was a wonderfully devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather to the very end. Walter is survived by his wife, Pat Scharf; children, Joy Schaffer and husband, Larry, Jeff Scharf and wife, Carmen, and Gary Scharf and wife, Norma Jean; grandchildren, Courtney, Megan, Maggie, Melissa, Timothy, Caitlon, Samantha and Kindton; siblings, Alvin and Edwin Scharf, Hilda Kabitzke, Norma Fredrickson, Erna May, Edna Blau and Alma Stephens; numerous nieces, nephews and mother-in-law, Leona Manger. In lieu of a funeral the family invites you to share in their memories of Walter from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at the Courtyard Marriot, 8585 Marriot Dr., San Antonio, TX, 78229.
