To the thinning blue line:
I must have been at a different council meeting than the Express reporter who reported the story. The police taxing district is not the union's position. Its fast becoming that of the Mayor, Council and City Administration. Now that's just great. The public did indeed beat the taxing district proposal, but only after the people of San Antonio realized that the proposal as written was no more than a ploy to hire more bureaucrats. They probably wanted to hire some gang bangers to show what they do is so bad.
I'm a senior citizen. I pay taxes. I worry about the safety of our officers (especially two of them). I pray for them every night. Something is drastically wrong when citizens are told that they need to stay inside their houses with the doors locked if they want to stay safe. This is not right. We are fast approaching the time when the police will no longer be able to protect us because you and I, as citizens, did not answer their call for help.
We've been warned. I like most seniors do not feel safe in the neighborhoods where we grew up. If we want to take back our streets, we need to have mandatory staffing levels and most importantly the support of our communities. When force is needed let's us be in charge or the time will come when will be the ones whose liberty and freedom are denied.
I know we do not have police officers on board. I've had property taken from my yard on two different occasions. To this day I have not been contacted by follow up units. Items stolen were lawn mowers and other yard working equipment. I'm willing to bet that these thieving thugs did not steal these items with the intention of starting a lawn care business.
I say "no relief for term limits without more police officers on the streets". Lets get together and support a public safety crime district that mandates to the city administration that all funding must be used for manpower and police equipment and that not one dime will be used for social programs. Join me and spread the word "the peckerwoods can no longer be in control of our streets and neighborhoods"
