UPDATE: Retiree Larry Bodiford dies unexpectedly.

Larry Joe Bodiford, passed away on Tuesday, August 11,
2009 in Floresville at the age of 60 years.

He was born in San Antonio on January 29, 1949 to William
Bodiford and Etta White. A native of San Antonio and a
Floresville resident for the past 21 years. He was a member
of the First Baptist Church of Floresville, was a board
member of the Floresville Historical Society, the American
Legion, a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the
U.S. Marines.

As a retired police officer from the SAPD, Officer Bodiford
became a sworn member of the San Antonio Police
Department on July 19, 1972 with Class 72B and served for
31 years until his retirement on May 2, 2003. He always will
be remembered as a part of the SAPD K-9 Unit serving for
25 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William M.
Bodiford and Etta White Bodiford, his grandson, Noah
Gorzell and sister-in-law, Cheryl Conaway. He is survived
by his wife, Wanda Bodiford of Floresville; his daughters,
Paula and husband Randy Gorzell of Kosciusko and
Tammy Bodiford of Floresville; his son Lonnie and wife
Jalyn Bodiford of Floresville; his brother, Billy and wife
Pat Bodiford of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Jean and
husband Gary Trucks of Dilley, brother-in-law, Tom and
wife Roxanna Avants of Blanco; grandchildren, Chandler
and Carson Gorzell and Lane Bodiford and two more
grandchildren expected; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2009 at
Franklin Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2009
at 10:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Floresville,
Rev. Mike Clements and Rev. Chuck Miller officiating.

Interment will follow in Mission Burial Park South.
Pallbearers are: Mike Carmack, Jesse Orta, Billy Aniol,
James Tapp, Scott Bodiford, Robert Hubbert,
Larry Angle and Carl Bremerman. Serving as honorary
pallbearers were: Robert White, Jim Kounty, Barney Allen,
Gary Burgamy, Larry Hrna, Butch Scarborough, Ed Hrna,
Dennis Gass and John Narramore.
