Retiree has problems with new Rx provider.

Below is a letter I sent to Direct R X our new retiree prescription provider. I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but it is apparent Direct R X is not filling prescriptions in a timely manner.

Wayne Biasiolli

The information provided with your packet states “our trained staff will verify, fill and ship your prescription on the same day". I registered online with Direct Rx in December of 2007 and included my credit card number for payment.

I called in my wife’s prescription on December 31, 2007 as she had 6 days of her prescription left. Her prescription arrived in the mail 7 days later on January 7, 2008.

I ordered my prescription refill online on January 14, 2008 as I had 10 days of my prescription left. It is now 8 days later and my prescription still is not in the mail.

My health care, The Fire and Police Retiree Health Care Fund elected to save money by using your company. It is obvious I will have to pay a higher co-pay and have my prescriptions refilled by a reputable pharmacy in order to have them refilled in a timely manner. Could someone please look into this matter as to why it takes over 8 days to mail a prescription to Lakehills TX, a distance of thirty miles from San Antonio TX.

EDITOR'S NOTE: We thank Wayne for bringing this issue to the table. This commentary has been a typical experience of other SAPD retirees who are trying to follow the rules for obtaining prescriptions from our new source. In all fairness though, bear in mind that Fire and Police retirees constitute nearly 2000+ individuals whose needs have suddenly been reduced to one providing source. Confusion and delays are probably unavoidable until the Rx provider gets their act together. HOWEVER, this does not mean that we cannot share our problems here on CoffeeCops and if necessary create a new category to keep track of how this program is progressing. Please send your experiences (good and bad) to blog@coffeecops.net
