Let me be the first (to tell a story about John Little),
Little John, worked just to my south in district 5-11.
he spent many hours taking care of the people he
guarded from harm.
they say you can never teach an old dog a new trick,
but you can bet the farm that little john, the old dog,
was always willing to take some time from his 6p-2a
shift to make a rookie keep his cool.
I know some of you are saying, Little John teaching
others? No way.
Well if you think that way, let me tell you just one story
about the man most called Little John and others
called ''TOMBSTONE''.
One steamy august night just before the 6 to 2 guys
were called
and said 5-11 please have 5-4 meet me at Mission
Burial Park. I could not help but think just what did
Tombstone trip over out there?
As I neared the rear of the cemetery a police spot light
flicked my way. I altered course and found the source
of the light to be that of little john. I got out walked
over toward his vehicle I damn near tripped over
something, and yes, it was Little John.
He was laying flat on a huge marble slab and he said,
“ I was keeping this
and I wanted you to have this rack. It's the only air
conditioned sleeping crib out this way.
Little John, “Tombstone” or what ever you called him
never had to yell. You see, Little John always had your
back. Rest my friend you have earned it.
I enjoyed the story about my paw paw. If you have any more I would love to hear them. My name is Heather and I am John Little's oldest grandaughter, I was raised by my paw paw....he is my hero. Thanks for remembering my paw
