Police Retiree Norris Waitschies dies at 82 years.

Norris Edwin, 82, was born July 22, 1926
to Albert and Bertha Waitschies, at home
in Schroeder, Texas, and passed from this
life to the next on October 17, 2008 in
San Antonio, Texas. Norris met and
married Fern Kathleen Day on
December 28, 1952, and they
were married for 54 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five
brothers and one sister. Norris was a decorated
veteran of the Korean War, and retired with the
rank of Major from the National Guard after 31
years of service.

Norris was a retired police officer with the San
Antonio Police Department, having completed 34
years of service. As an involved person in his
community, Norris served as a the Cub Master
at W.W. White Elementary School, he coached a
number of Little League Baseball teams, and was
a past president of the Town East Optimist Club.

Norris was a life long member of the Missouri
Synod Lutheran Church which he served as a
faithful church member and elder, with his final
membership at Cross Lutheran Church in New
Braunfels, Texas.

Norris is survived by his wife, Fern K. Waitschies;
son and daughter-in-law Rick and Debbie Waitschies,
son Tom Waitschies; grandson, Shawn Waitschies,
as well as a whole host of relatives, friends and
neighbors. Norris will be remembered as a loving
husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather,
wonderful neighbor and friend, and certainly a person
who will be greatly missed by all who knew and
loved him.

The family will receive friends at 7:00 p.m. to
9:00 p.m., Monday, October 20, 2008 at Sunset
North Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be
held at 10:00 a.m. at Cross Lutheran Church in
New Braunfels on Tuesday, October 21, 2008
with interment to follow at San Fernando
Cemetery III in San Antonio, Texas.
