A message from SAF&P Association President

August 10, 2008

I want to remind all members of the next meeting of the San
Antonio Fire and Police Pensioners Association. The meeting
will be held on Tuesday the 12th of August, 2008 at 1:30 pm.

The location of the meeting is the Fire and Police Pension Fund
building at 311 Roosevelt Ave. This is an important meeting.

Your Association is now offering all retirees and their
dependents dental and vision insurance. The policy will be
through QCD of America, Inc.

The premiums can be payroll (retiree fund check) deductable.
This Company also provides dental and vision insurance to
South San Antonio ISD, Bexar County and World Car
in our area.

A representative of QCD of America, Inc. will be at this
meeting. He will explain the policy, answer all questions and
offer enrollment. Enrollment will also be offered online
starting August 12th, 2008 at

http://safppa.myqcd.com.

When I became President I stated that I wanted the San
Antonio Fire and Police Pensioners Association to have a
website. We do have a website at this time.

The URL is www.safppa.org.

I must admit that it is not the best at this time.
All the minutes from our meetings are available.
The minutes will be retained online for one year.

Articles that will appear in the upcoming issues of the
Grapevine and Centurion Magazines are available.

Healthcare Fund Board meeting minutes are also online.
Links to other websites are also available.

One of these links is to the QCD of America's page for the
SAFPPA (see the link above). This page outlines the cost and other policy information.

A new version of our website is in the background.
The new version has a lot more information. It will also
have a Bulletin Board so members can communicate with our
committees and individual members in public or in private.

This feature will require a verification of Association
membership for security reasons. I expect the newer
version to be activated within the next two weeks.

Keep checking the site for more information such as the
Legislative package and upcoming Annual Lunch!

I appointed a new committee called the "State of the
Association" Committee. They have been charged with
looking into all areas of our Association. They are looking into
our By-Laws, Executive Committee member's responsibility
to the members, funding, future needs of the Association
and many other areas.

Come to the meetings and express your opinion
on all these areas.

The SAPOA gets a pat on the back for all its efforts to
get the Centurion back on a monthly schedule!
The SAPOA also has a new website design.
Give it a try at www.sapoa.org.
